Ethics are opinion-based moral principals, not a set list of values to follow. Ethics vary from person to person based on personal beliefs, emotions and knowledge. A term you may hear frequently is that a once-living specimen has been "ethically sourced". What does that mean to you personally? For our shop, it means a handful of things. Below is our "code of ethics" and why we label ourselves as "ethically sourced".
- Hunting- Specimens obtained via hunters/trappers that hunt for food, population control, and invasive species that may be harming native ecosystem communities. Byproducts of these animals may not be useful to the hunters themselves, but are always welcome in my shop. No animals are killed specifically for art. No animals are purchased from the fur-farming industry.
- Roadkill/found specimens- These are sourced by me or other vulture culture enthusiasts and then purchased by me. These animals are deceased when located and are then processed.
- Pets- Deceased pets are, on occasion, donated to the shop. These animals were loved in life and now in death.
